2011 Ford Shelby GT500
Cars, Featured Posts — By DaveThe 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 (that looks identical to the 2010 model) will be equipped with an aluminum 5.4-liter V8 engine (that has a state-of-the-art Plasma Transferred Wire Arc (PTWA) liner coating) will produce 550 horsepower (up 10 horses from the 2010 model), 510 ft-lb of torque, and it’ll get 15 mpg city / 23 mpg highway. It’ll also feature a revised electrical power steering system, slotted brake dust shields, a new pedal box (for improved clutch and pedal feel), and a new exhaust system. Ford also plans on releasing an optional SVT Performance Package.
According to Jost Capito, director of global performance vehicles and motorsports business development, “The SVT team continues to push the performance standards of the Shelby to even higher levels and better refinement. All the changes we made reflect a desire for even better handling and outstanding driving dynamics – from weight savings to improved balance.”
The 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will make its first official debut at the Chicago Auto Show.
